Black Lives Matter

Hello everyone.
The last few weeks have really opened our eyes. We are shocked, saddened and ready to act. We stand by and support the Black Lives Matter movement and are committing ourselves to admitting our privileges, educating, both ourselves, our children and others, donating, signing petitions and pushing for a society where everyone is treated equally across society.
We have found a few resources incredibly helpful so far that we wanted to share...
Books for educating yourself on the issues:
Why I'm no longer talking to white people about race by Reni Eddo-Lodge
White Fragility: Why it's so hard for white people to talk about Racism by Robin DiAngelo
How to be Anti-Racist by Ibram X.Kendi
If you can't join the protest but want your voice to be heard, head to Change.org where there are so many petitions you can sign in support of social justice reform. I would also recommend writing to your local council to challenge them on their social policies.
If like us, you are looking for ways to better educate the next generation, these books for children introduce more diversity and the subject of racism from an early age:
Raising Little Allies To-Be
The Skin I'm In: A First Look At Racism by Pat Thomas
All Are Welcome by Alexandra Penfold
The Snowy Day by Ezra Jack Keats - Beautiful film too.
Finally, we would recommend listening to the following powerful tracks by artists Kano & Dave that highlight these issues and the injustices Black people face everyday in our society. Kano: Trouble | Dave: Black
There is a long road ahead, and quite honestly we didn't realise how far we still had to come. We sat amongst our white privileges being non racist, but we now realise that was not enough. Educate yourself, challenge others and make a change.
