14 Years on....

I set up the company in March 2010 with zero business plan, just a blind ambition to work for myself on my own terms, and create a lifestyle where I get to draw and design for a living.

Prior to setting up my own business I worked for a small fair trade fashion company giving me plenty of experience in running a small business.

My mum started helping when I had a big order from Waterstones and couldn't manage the hand printing single handedly. We hand printed on the family kitchen table for months and used the kitchen cupboard as our studio/stock room.

My sister later started helping out while on Mat leave 12 years ago and never went back, she now runs all our production and is more organised than the yellow pages and google combined.

Whether you are new to us or a seasoned follower, you should by now, know a bit about our story. As a small, family run business I am lucky to work alongside loved ones while also do something I love, but it can be challenging. The last 14 years have had their up's and downs, so I thought for our anniversary I would share a few fun facts about us from the past 14 years!

Ruairi (partner in life and work) joined me in running the company and heading up the business and sales side of the company in 2015. He was working in sport, (completely unrelated) but we wanted to work together, he wanted change and I needed the help! We gave ourselves a strict 6 month period to see whether we could work and live together, but 9 years work, 1 house and 2 children later, and and i'm not sure how I ever did it without him.

Our signature product - our hand printed cards - are hand printed on table top letter press that has been adapted to fit rubber stamps. We make polymer sheets of stamps from my drawings and designs and then hand print each card individually. My uncle, with a history in newspaper printing prints all our hand printed cards in house, along with our notecards, postcards and correspondence sets.

Our biggest drive is the desire to spread joy and love through hand written correspondence and meaningful connection. It is something that I think is at risk of being lost in our digital fast paced world, and something that we need as humans. You can't replace this with digital means and it needs to be treasured.

Here's to the next 14 years. Thanks for being here.

Katie
